The Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) is a flagship initiative aimed at nurturing research talent and promoting excellence in scientific research across India. Launched to support meritorious students, the PMRF encourages them to pursue doctoral studies in cutting-edge areas of science and technology. Research Fields: The PMRF supports research in a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to:

• Engineering and Technology
• Basic and Applied Sciences
• Social Sciences

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the PMRF, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Must have completed or be in the final year of their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in relevant fields.
• Must have secured a position in the top 25 percentile in their respective programs or have a CGPA/CPI of 8.0 or above.
• Must have qualified for one of the following national level examinations: GATE, JAM, JEST, or UGC-NET.

Financial Assistance: Selected candidates under the PMRF receive generous financial support, including:

• A fellowship of Rs. 70,000 per month for the first two years.
• Rs. 75,000 per month for the third year.
• Rs. 80,000 per month for the fourth and fifth years.

Additionally, fellows receive a research grant of Rs. 2 lakh per year to cover research-related expenses.

Institutions: The PMRF enables selected candidates to pursue their doctoral studies at premier institutions and universities across India. These institutions include:

• Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
• Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs)
• National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
• Central Universities
• Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)
• Other recognized research institutions and universities
